In this newsletter:
Please help us publicise our events. We have included links for each event so that if you use Facebook you can share events with your friends. PLEASE DO SO. We are independent and as we don't have the PR and publicity machine of a big record company we rely on you to help spread the word. If you know a venue that you would like us to play at, point them to our EPK (electronic press kit) HERE Baka Workshops and Camps in UK & Canada: THE DEVON JUNE CAMP IS GETTING CLOSER! Competition to win tickets to Wychwood Festival: The organisers of Wychwood festival are offering a pair of tickets to see your favourite band (and all the others) at the Wychwood Festival near Cheltenham. Link to Facebook event. News about new album: It has taken longer than we hoped to get a new album recorded. Martin was away for 6 weeks visiting the Baka, and Nii has only just got back from touring with his dance troupe Frititi in Asia and Australia. However most of the songs are almost ready. There's just a bit more work to do. the amazing weather we have been having has made it harder to stay shut up in the studio rather than be outside playing live music! We will let you know when we have a release date and will also make extra tracks available as free downloads to our mailing list, so tell your friends to sign up. News about Global Music Exchange: Historically the vast majority of GME's finances have come from album sales. However with the downturn in world CD sales we are exploring other ways to raise funds for the Baka. There have been a couple of unexpected expenses this year that GME have had to cover. Both Andi and Martin flew out to Cameroon on Afriqaya Airlines (via Tripoli). Due to the problems there we had to buy them new returns which were quite expensive. It looks as though the insurance doesn't cover "civil unrest" so we won't be getting that money back. Album sales just about cover everyday living costs at Gbiné as well as keeping medical help free for Gbiné members, but we need to raise income to keep other projects ongoing. If you can donate anything you can through the PayPal link at the bottom of each page of the GME website. Donations over £5 will receive a free download of Baka in the Forest where the money goes:
We will be putting details of current projects on the GME Website as soon as possible. |
